2-Hour Mini Workshops on Nuisance Behaviors
Nuisance behaviors affordably resolved logically and humanely--without yelling, screaming, pulling hair out (yours or dog's), or even scolding.
Note: These are counseling workshops to help you resolve selective behavior problems, not dog training classes. Kindly leave dogs and children at home as we do not have the facility to accommodate either. Neither is my home wheelchair accessible. Please see our Services page for alternative, in-home sessions.

Housebreaking: In this mini workshop you will learn housebreaking from your dog's perspective. There are thousands of philosophies on this topic and this is but one more. However, here you will learn not to punish or scold your dog for this behavior and why doing so may exacerbate the problem. Of course it is ideal if you can provide a doggie door so the outside potty area is always accessible but we know this is not possible for everyone. So in this mini workshop you will also learn how to teach your dog to notify you audibly of his need to go outside.
Jumping on People: In this mini workshop you will learn jumping on people from your dog's perspective. What will not be used are tactics like lifting your knee so the jumping dog slams his chest into it, pinching forepaws, stepping on the dog's back feet, and yelling "Off". We will discuss why these tactics don't work in your favor and you will learn a much more effective and dog-friendly technique.
Leash Pulling: In this mini workshop you will learn leash pulling from your dog's perspective. You will learn how to teach your dog to walk on a loose leash and not cross in front of your path with a simple, yet effective, technique...without jerking your dog. This is not a formal Heel but your dog will learn not to pull no matter the length of leash you provide. For instance, if you walk by Miss Snooty's house and she says, "If that dog steps one foot on my lawn I'm coming out with a broom" then you'll want to reel in your dog so he is right next to you as though in a heel, and not pulling. This mini workshop is regarding dogs that forge ahead or lag behind, not dogs that lunge when approaching other people or dogs. See our Services page for a lunging dog.
